First, nitty gritty questions:

What specific materials and techniques would you particularly like in your piece? Are there any materials you are sensitive or allergic to?

What price range would you like your piece to fall into?

Things that can affect the price are materials cost, difficulty, shipping method and time required to complete the work and convenience-if you need your piece in less than the four to six weeks we recommend, please notify us as soon as possible.

We respectfully request half of the agreed upon price as a non-refundable deposit on all commissions once all details are to your satisfaction. This covers non-returnable materials used to create your piece.

Now for the fun part:

What is your inspiration for this custom work?

Where do you plan to wear it, is there a particular outfit you’d like to match or coordinate (please describe colors and style)?

Did you see an item, photograph, piece of art, thing in nature that you’d like us to use as inspiration? Mina and Simbelmynë specialize in beading and metal work and we are consummate crafters in other areas. Take a few minutes to look through our available pieces our blog and our gallery of designs to see examples of the skills we have.

What type of item would you like us to make for you? (possibilities include but are not limited to necklace, bracelet, earrings, ring, pendant, pin, eyeglass tether, crown, anklet, wand, book, mask...)

Measurements:

  • Bracelets, you’ll need to measure around your wrist. If you would like a bangle or bracelet with no clasp, use a tape measure or print and cut out the .pdf paper ruler to measure the circumference of a bangle that fits over your hand.
  • Necklaces: Please see the chart attached at the end of this document.
  • Earrings: Approximately how long would you like them to be?
  • Pendants: What will you be attaching the pendant to? A chain will require a different size of bail or attachment point than one intended to slide over a beaded strand. Please consider that genuine gemstones are rocks and large ones can be quite heavy, very tiny pendants can float around on a necklace because their cannot weigh themselves down.
  • All other items, we will contact you about specific measurements.

Is there anything else special about the piece? Is it intended for a mom of small children or an elderly person who might have trouble with certain types of clasps? A child? Does the intended wearer work with their hands primarily?

Sizing Aids

  • Necklace chart -- Necklaces can be a wide variety of lengths. Refer to this chart to choose your length. Please remember that all lengths are relative to your body type. If you can double check using a string or a favorite necklace, you can be most certain to have the correct fit. This is particularly important for chokers and collar style necklaces.
  • Printable ring sizer -- Print and cut out this ring sizer to measure your fingers for rings. It is important that you leave turned off any “fit to page” or "scale" option when printing, to get the correct printed size.
  • Printable ruler -- Print and cut out this ruler if you need one. It is important that you leave turned off any “fit to page” or "scale" option when printing, to get the correct printed size.
